Meet the Team

  • Holly Gray, Founder and Director

    Holly has been working with secondary students in the U.S. and Europe for over three decades.  She is a certified teacher and a school counselor, a professional member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA), a member of the National Association of College Admissions Counselors (NACAC), and has a master’s degree in school counseling. She has spent more than half of her career providing college and vocational counseling and helping students achieve the lives of their dreams. Holly has honed her advising skills by building strong relationships with parents, guardians, and students, and by helping students craft a plan for life after secondary school. 

  • Paula Bernal, College Counselor Associate & Assessment Consultant

    Paula Bernal has more than 26 years of experience as an educational psychologist and school counselor in international schools in Italy, Serbia and Colombia. She has supported a diverse range of learners—from students with significant learning and emotional needs to advanced and gifted students. As part of managing both students with learning needs and gifted and advanced learners, she has conducted comprehensive psycho-educational assessments for high school and college students. Her expertise enables her to identify and support each student’s unique learning profile, equipping them with strategies for academic success, especially as they transition to college. Paula holds a BA in Psychology, an MA in Educational Psychology from New York University, and an EdS in Educational Leadership and Inclusive Education from the University of Kentucky. Additionally, she has a specialized certificate in Gifted and Talented Education from UCSD. Paula is also pursuing certification as a college counselor and ADHD coach, further expanding her ability to guide and support students in achieving their personal and academic goals.

  • Kim Beeman, Essay Coach

    Kim has been teaching and tutoring since she graduated with honors from Harvard College in 2001 with a degree in English and American Literature and Language. She has taught in international schools in Thailand, Singapore, and Italy for more than a decade. Kim is passionate about reading, writing, research, and helping students find their voice. Kim also holds a Master's degree in Library Science and a UK teaching certification. In all of her roles, Kim has worked closely with students and staff to support academic reading and writing, with particular expertise in the IB Extended Essay and the AQA Extended Project Qualification. 

  • Jack Shull, UK and Overseas Consultant

    Jack is an Independent Educational Consultant (IEC), consulting with international schools who want to enhance their university counseling program, and working privately with students who attend French, German, British, Italian and other national schools who wish to study at a university abroad. In Jack’s 35 years as a professional university counselor, he worked at International Schools in Southeast Asia, Europe, China, and the Middle East using American, British, and International curricula. He has mentored and coached dozens of university counselors, and helped schools all over the world strengthen services to students. Jack holds a B.S. in Psychology and Education, a M.S. in Counseling and Guidance, and an Ed.S in Educational Administration with a concentration in Leadership from the University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, Minnesota. Jack’s expertise is well-known and globally recognized. He is a member of the faculty for the University of California, Los Angeles’ College Counseling program and President Emeritus of IACAC (the International Association of College Admissions Counseling). He has personally visited hundreds of universities around the world. Jack’s students have gone on to attend university in the US, Canada, Asia, the UK, Europe and other parts of the world. 

  • Christian Shull, UK and Overseas Consultant

    Christian is certified with distinction in University Counseling by the University of California, Los Angeles. His experience includes time with the US State Department and Education U.S.A, where he supported Spanish nationals looking to study in the United States. He is also an associate member of global university counseling professional societies such as IACAC and IECA, where he is part of the Global Committee Leadership team. Christian’s own lived experience is intensely global. Born in Bangkok, raised in Cairo, with undergraduate degree studies from the United States and graduate degree studies in Spain, he worked in Taiwan, Shanghai, and China before moving to Madrid, where he’s lived for the past seven years. Christian is an expert in Third Culture Kid (TCK) education and experience; he has developed a keen understanding of university culture and offerings in Europe and the UK through numerous campus visits and strong relationships with admissions teams.

  • Geoff Stearns, Athletic Recruiting Consultant

    Geoff has been guiding students through the college athletic recruitment admissions process since he graduated from Harvard in 1982. He brings to the team his relationships and network of colleagues from around the globe. These include IECA and NACAC certified educational consultants, college coaches, athletic directors, and admissions counselors. We assess each athletic inquiry carefully to determine if he can add value and guide a family effectively. Geoff has served as a member of the Harvard Alumni Schools’ committee (1997 – 2009) as an interviewer and liaison to Harvard admissions. He is currently a Professional Member of the Independent Educational Consultant Association and speaks both publicly and professionally on athletic recruiting.
